Education & Service
I earned a PhD in Computer Science in 2023, with a thesis titled "Modeling State to Improve Defensive Cyberattack Strategies." I served in the Arizona Army National Guard from 2000-2009, including a tour in Iraq (2005-2006). In 2018, I received a Pat Tillman Foundation scholarship, becoming a Tillman Scholar.
Interests
I'm a nerd who enjoys computers, science fiction, and science. I'm passionate about Latin dancing (particularly Salsa and Bachata), play piano and guitar at an amateur level, and love singing and reading. I also really, really like Star Trek.
Background
Born in India, I grew up in Oman before immigrating to the United States at age 17. I've maintained this site in various forms since 1999—originally hosting it on Arizona State University's server, then on friends' servers, and eventually on my own FreeBSD server since 2002. I switched to WordPress around 2005 and later moved to Dreamhost. I've grown tired of WordPress because of all the bloat, and I've wanted to have a sort of minimalist and simple blogging engine just for me. I'm hoping that this will get me writing again. So in 2026, I'm putting all of my content back on my own blogging engine. I came up with the design and then I had Claude Code implement it—it's not a serious product, and I wanted to see how far I could take Claude!
