random musings of just another computer nerd

Weird… REALLY WEIRD…

Ok… Maybe it’s because I’ve been doing CSE 430 for hours and hours… or maybe it’s because I haven’t slept in a while – although I don’t feel sleep deprived… but anyway… I just stopped by at the AMPM to get some caffeine and the lady at the counter looked EXACTLY like my CSE 430 professor! I AM NOT KIDDING! I SWEAR!

New AC Unit

They put in a whole new AC Unit. It’s top-of-the-line apparently. I even got a digital thermostat interface instead of the old analog one. It’s pretty schweet.

Old Stuff

The Heater in my house won’t work. The maintenance guys worked on it for two days and couldn’t figure out the problem. Then they called the AC tech guy. He looked it for a couple of hours. Then he tells me the problem. The apartment complex is old. And then he shows me this component. It looks something like a vacuum tube. Or one of those flashy light thingys that are inside the Mad Scientist’s lab. I mean, this thing looked OLD. It was probably made back in the day when computers were as big as trucks and had about as much brainpower as my microwave. It was also damaged. It looked like it had been subjected to some ungodly amount of heat. It was even missing some pins. Apparently before the gas heater fires up, it goes through a safety check. This is part of that safety check. I’m glad because if it wasn’t then my house would be a little too warm – after it explodes and everything. So he’s like “No one in town carries this around”. I have to wait till Monday morning before he gets a new one. I wonder how many other old things are in my house. I bet a hamster is running my refrigerator.

I’ve had it

Ok, I’ve had it with this site. I am going to re-design it. Yes I am. Uhmm. I don’t know when it will be done.

Past

I just got done with my Anthropology final today. The class was ASB 222: Buried Cities and Lost Civilizations taught by Dr. Falconer. I was actually a little sad coming out of the final because I really enjoyed the class. I’ve always been interested in history – especially the history of ancient civilizations. It was really quite humbling to learn about all of them – how much of their culture survives today and how much of their culture has influenced our present day culture, society and politics. If I could, I’d take that class again!

Noun Form

Does anyone know the noun form of pathetic? If the noun form of apathetic is apathy, would the noun form of pathetic be pathy? But English is far from logical… If anybody knows, email me.

Oh no

I just accidentally removed rpm from a Linux system. Now I can’t install anything. Oh no :(. CRAAAAAP!

Crash Into Me

You’ve got your ball
you’ve got your chain
tied to me tight tie me up again
who’s got their claws
in you my friend
Into your heart I’ll beat again
Sweet like candy to my soul
Sweet you rock
and sweet you roll
Lost for you I’m so lost for you

You come crash into me
And I come into you
I come into you
In a boys dream
In a boys dream

Touch your lips just so I know
In your eyes, love, it glows so
I’m bare boned and crazy for you
When you come crash
into me, baby
And I come into you
In a boys dream
In a boys dream

~Crash Into Me, Dave Matthews Band

Hmmm…

Finals
